week of April 13
Fulton Unit Four: Timbre

  • Take a walk through your home, yard, or neighborhood. Walk silently and listen to all the sounds you hear. Maybe you will hear birds, someone typing on a computer keyboard, or a car driving down the street. If you want an example or can't take a walk yourself, check out Ms. Holbrook's Sound Walk here https://youtu.be/3vpyvHoWW60  or watch the video below
  • When you are done, make a list or draw a picture of the sounds you hear on your walk.
  • Group the sounds together by timbre or quality of sound on that same piece of paper.  Here are some questions to consider as you are grouping…
Are any of the sounds similar?
How could I describe the sound?
Is the sound affected by the wind or another element of nature?
Can I control the sound by moving in a different way? (For example, if I move faster or if I stomp does it affect the sound?
Do any of these sounds involve technology or something man-made?

  • Turn in your paper! Scan it and share it through Teams or another platform or take a picture and send it.
  • Ms. Scoggins’ classes scogginske@fultonschools.org     Ms. Holbrook’s classes holbrookcl@fultonschools.org
