Day 8 of the 30 Day Song Challenge with Ms. Holbrook asks us to listen to our mom/dad/brother/sister’s favorite song. I chose my mom’s favorite song, American Pie by Don McLean. This song is a tribute to the late great Buddy Holly who had a huge influence on rock & roll. The song also gave us a glimpse into what it was like to be growing up in the 1960s. https://youtu.be/iX_TFkut1PM

Speaking of favorite music...Ms. Scoggins has lots of favorites! Below is a Colorado State performance of the classic tale "Hansel and Gretel." This one is different, though, because every word is sung! Do you know the name of the style that is a play completely sung through featuring elements of the arts including classical music, lights, costumes, sets, movement? OPERA! This one is over an hour long but skip through and take a listen to the beautiful singing.
